Our Speakers

Dr Dasoo, BioArt

With a special interest in infertility and minimal access surgery, Dr Dasoo forms part of a small number of doctors in South Africa that have specialised in fertility and HIV/ AIDS research.

As a member of the South African Society of Reproductive Science and Surgery (SASRSS), the South African Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (SASOG), the Genecology Management Group (GMG), the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and the College of Medicine, Dr Dasoo has access to a global network of experts who share their knowledge, learnings and experiences to ensure a progressive development of the medical industry as it relates to fertility.

Established as a well-respected fertility specialist, Dr Dasoo together with Dr Cassim currently head up a hi-tech, world-class fertility center in Brenthurst called BioART (Assisted Reproductive Technology).

Dr Antonio Rodrigues, Medfem

Dr Antonio Rodrigues is a founding member and director of Medfem Fertility Clinic. Dr Rodrigues is a Gynaecologist and Obstetrician and qualified at the University of the Witwatersrand, Gauteng, graduating in 1979. Dr Rodrigues is also a Fellow of College of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists and completed his FCOG in 1989 at the University of the Witwatersrand.

In addition to his fertility background he is an expert in lifestyle and its effect on fertility of females and males. Research performed by Dr Rodrigues became a catalyst for the book ‘Faster, Better, Sicker – Time Urgency Perfectionism Stress and Your Health’. He has been responsible for integrating this course, creating the logical sequencing, developing a research based nutrient package to optimise the course’s success and correlating the clinical symptoms and diseases. Over the past 14 years, Dr Rodrigues has taken a special interest in the diagnosis and management of Time Urgency Stress in infertile women with special reference to endometriosis, and in this time has assessed over 4000 patients.

Dr Razina Patel, Sandton Fertility Clinic

Dr. Razina Patel qualified as a medical doctor at the University of the Witwatersrand in 1989 and then went on to do her specialist training and qualified as a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology in 1998. She practiced at Park Lane Clinic in Johannesburg for 15 years before joining the Sandton Fertility Centre. In her experience, Dr. Patel has met people who yearn for the privilege and pleasure of bearing children and who were saddened by the fact that they couldn’t. Together with Dr. Mohamed, Dr. Patel dedicates her expertise to facilitating pregnancies at the Sandton Fertility Centre.

Mandy Rodrigues

Mandy Rodrigues is a clinical psychologist in private practice. She has been involved in the field of infertility for eighteen years, working with individuals, groups and couples. She works with individuals (and their spouses) in trying to deal with their fertility journey including making decisions like egg donation, and surrogacy; and this might include the spouse. She offers support for couples going through IVF, and assesses donors embarking on donor programs.

Mandy has been involved in the forensic assessment of surrogates and Intended Parents for the High Court for ten years, and works within a multi-disciplinary team for these assessments. She also consults to the neonatal unit at Sandton Clinic and specialises in the management of grief and post-partum depression.
