Cal Volks is a non-executive board member of IFAASA. She completed her BA Hons and Masters degrees at Rhodes University in 1994 majoring in Psychology. In 2000 she did an Honours degree in Psychology through UNISA, focusing on Counseling and Health Psychology, Family Therapy and Eco-systemic Psychology. Cal has worked as the Director of the HIV AIDS and Inclusivity Unit at the University of Cape Town for 20 years where she has focused on Project Management, Counseling and Psycho Education around Sexuality; Relationships and Stigma.
In 2010 Cal completed the British Infertility Counseling Association Course in Infertility Counseling. Cal then completed an internship focusing solely on infertility counseling in Cape Town. Cal has researched, presented internationally and published in the field of infertility counseling. Cal is currently completing a Diploma in Counseling at the South African College of Applied Psychology in Cape Town and pursuing registration with the South African Council for Counsellors. Cal has been awarded the following for her work: 2 Rotary International Scholarships, 2 Raymond Pullen Merit Bursaries; An A W Mellon HERS programme scholarship and an Erasmus Mundus scholarship.
Cal is passionate about helping patients navigate the emotional journey after being diagnosed with infertility.
